Very Short Stories, Week 15

Good morning, friends! Couple things to share today…

This week, My hubby and I are taking one of our nephews to stay with us. There’ll probably be some Pokemon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Swimming, splash pads, day trips. Or maybe a more lazy week with in home reading and crafting. Who knows!

Because of this, I will most likely be absent from my blog and less active on Twitter (if you follow me on there; if not, here’s me! @KEMwriting ). There’s no point trying to guarantee blog posts when I’m going to be focused on having fun and laughs with my nephew!

It also means little editing will be done on my book. I plan on making time for it since the writer’s life for me will eventually mean children of my own. This will be a great way to figure that aspect out more.

While I’m off for a week of joy and adventures, I hope this week is fulfilling for the rest of you! Take care!

Oh, and enjoy my very short stories just below!

July 23rd

This is #folly, she cried and barrelled out the open window of the train compartment after her friend. She heard a splash seconds before cold water surrounded her, pulling at her limbs. Unbuttoning her heavy clothes, she sprung to the surface and sought out her friend.

July 24th

Such a waste of time, she determined and slammed her laptop closed. What a #joke, thinking I could be a writer. She tossed her USB across the room and left it there like a piece of forgotten trash.

Pick me up now, it seemed to say from the floor. We’re not done yet.

July 25th

Vivian stepped out of her room and the black dress clung to her body like a wet glove. A hesitant smile played on her lips as she descended the staircase. In front of Damian’s hungry gaze, her cheeks turned scarlet.

His kiss was sudden yet she #answered it with passion.

July 26th

Give ’em #hell, his dad said and tapped his gloves.

He entered the cage to the roars of the crowd and threw his arms up high with his own shout. Pacing back and forth, he watched his opponent. They approached each other, knocked fists and squared up.

The bell rang.

July 27th

What’s your #intent with my son? she asked. Her legs were crossed, hands rested on her knee.

I plan on making him happy til the end of my days, he answered and smiled. He fiddled with the ring box in his pocket.

That settles it then. You have my blessing, she grinned.

July 28th

Do you get it yet?

I want You gone

Disappear

Vanish

Into a Darkness

only You can

Summon

Tired of cruel whims

that Sabotage my attempts

You’re a bad taste

Lingering

Unwanted

I #renounce You

and Your Tainted Touch

Vilify

Condemn

Your Traitorous ways

Goodbye, Reflection

July 29th

#Stray dogs littered the streets; unwanted and untended. She shook her head at the sight until a wet nose kissed her hand. Smiling, she stroked the ragged pup and it demanded belly rubs. I can’t save them all but I can save this one, she mused and took it home with her.

Rain

Drops of water free fall to the Earth

Racing their brothers and sisters

Hurrying in their plummet to the ground.

This simple beauty called Rain.

The dry dirt soaks them in, eager

Until roots are bathed in the Sky’s tears

Joyful or sad, I dare not ask the Clouds.

This simple beauty called Rain.

A beat forms as Thunder growls across the grey

Lightning flashes, forks of searing hot converge

And here, I dance barefoot in the mud, because of

This simple beauty called Rain.

Sick and it Bites!

Ick! I’m sick for the first time in like… two years and it sucks! I have been eating better, exercising, drinking tons of water, and I have been forsaken by my immune system.

It started yesterday, this stupid sore throat with wonky headness. Yep. That’s a word now. The brain fog is real and my face feels so weird. All I want to do is sleep, but I somehow still have normal energy levels combined with my wonderful restlessness.

So… I’m going to go do my yoga, and veg out some more to Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. It is a Netflix original series and is a retake on Sabrina Spellman, that adorable show from when we were kids. However, I love this darker view soooo much better! (Plus, totally in love with the idea of magic)

If I didn’t feel dizzy like I lost my land legs and got dock rock, I would push myself to read, but instead… I’m hoping to fall asleep to give my body that extra time to get rid of this bull*&%$ cold, flu, whatever!

I have to start feeling better to clean the house, get laundry done, and be productive. So here’s hoping tomorrow I wake up feeling better and can put this lapse on my immune system’s part to rest.

Take care of yourselves!

Love Potion

Poetry soothes my soul with its directness and metaphors. It is a friendly creature, but changes it form, consistency, just like water. I have not written a poem in some time, it feels, so here is one today. (I forgot to include Saturday and Sunday plans in my writing schedule. Oops!)

There is no special
way, to find your forever.
It happens when it’s

Time. No more, no less.
Be yourself, be patient, and
the one will find you.

Throw out lines, baited,
if you must, but don’t forget
chasing love scares it.

It is timid and
slow to eat from the hand
it is offered, friend.
Something that you feel will find its own form. ~ Jack Kerouac

Strawberry-Banana Smoothie = Easy

I have been making Strawberry-Banana Smoothies for the past couple days in a bid to add more fruit to my diet. They taste delicious and they definitely are satisfying. Plus it is an easy way to eat and write at the same time! So here is how I make mine!

-4 to 5 strawberries, frozen

-1/4 cup water

-1 whole banana, peeled

-1 1/2 tbsps greek yogurt

-a dash of cinnamon

Now I use a magic bullet and this makes about one serving. If you use an actual blender or whatever, play around with the measurements to find the perfect blend for you!

  1. I rinse the strawberries under hot water to remove any ice and to thaw them just a bit.
  2. Strawberries and water get blended together until smooth.
  3. Next, add the banana and greek yogurt. Blend again until smooth.
  4. Add a dash of cinnamon (or whatever amount you prefer) [optional step]

It will be nice and cold for you and ready to drink. It is the only way (aside from cake) that I will eat bananas since they have a funny texture. The potassium supposed to help my sore muscles and seems to have done so already.

My ‘secret’ ingredient, the cinnamon, is supposed to be good for boosting metabolism, and I don’t mind a hand in that department! (Don’t add to everything though, because it does ruin a good chicken burger!).

Anyways, I’m off to do my yoga and write more for my book! A late start doesn’t mean a day is ruined, after all!
